Our Lady’s annual Year 7 trip to Langdale takes place during the first half term of the academic year. This gets high school life off to a great start, creating an excellent opportunity for our new students to get away from the classroom for a few days to bond with their classmates.
The trip is organised in conjunction with the Youth Hostel Association and the hostel our students stay at is a rambling Victorian Mansion owned by the National Trust located in its own grounds between Elterwater and Grasmere, overlooking Lake Windermere.
The trip offers your child a chance to learn new skills outdoors and try out a range of adventurous activities in a beautiful setting. Activities include bush craft, archery walking and navigation, to name a few. The team-building activities fit with the ethos of our school encouraging the students to work together and support each other. This trip is a fantastic experience for the students, enabling them to establish new friendships that will be invaluable to them as they progress through school life and leaving them with happy lifelong memories.
Our most recent Langdale residential trip ran week commencing Monday 10 October 2016. The Year 7 students were split into two groups, with group one visiting Langdale from Monday to Wednesday and then meeting to change over with group two who enjoyed the same range of activities from Wednesday to Friday. The students enjoyed getting to know each other better as they supported each other through activities that included a walk to Grasmere Lake, fire-building and a spooky 'midnight' walk.
We will update this page as soon as the dates for the 2017 Langdale trip are made available. All new year 7s will be provided with an information booklet a couple of weeks prior to the Langdale residential trip containing all the information regarding times, travel arrangements, kit requirements, accommodation and catering.
