It can take time to discover the right career path. And for many, this involves a little trial and error along the way. To make the process easier, Our Lady’s is delighted to be hosting a drop-in session with a different ‘Career Ambassador’ each month. The sessions will take place in Mrs Riaz’s room (F05).
The first session will take place on Monday 16 January, 1.30pm-2pm.
Students are invited to come and meet Forensic Social Worker. Jane Naik, to hear about her job and ask any questions they may have about embarking on a career in the forensic services.
My name’s Jane and I have been a qualified social worker since 1992. I’ve worked in many different places; community teams, in hospitals and in housing departments.
At the moment I work in forensic services which means I work with people who have committed a crime and who have a mental illness. I’m based in a secure hospital which is a mix of a hospital and a prison. My job involves working with patients, and their families as well as psychiatrists, nurses and psychologists within the hospital. It's a varied role and no day is the same.
I want people to know that social work isn’t just about children in care!
