Music for Youth is a national youth arts charity providing free, life-changing performance and progression opportunities to under-21s across the UK, regardless of their background. They encourage youngsters to participate in high-quality musical activities nurturing the next generation of musical talent.
Here at Our Lady’s Miss Prince runs a choir in partnership with our local primary school, St Clare’s. Accompanied by Miss Prince and Miss Durbin, 'The Voices of Our Lady's and St Clare’s' took part in the annual Music for Youth Regional Festival Series 2018 at Rochdale Town Hall in March working with music mentors and receiving advice on how to develop as a group. Out of over 1,200 groups of around 40,000 young musicians, performing as part of the annual series in over 50 festivals across the country, we’re delighted to announce that we’ve been selected to take part in the Festival Fringe in Birmingham on Wednesday 4th July 2018!
There will be various performance slots on stages across the city centre (Birmingham Town Hall, the Festival Tent, Victoria Square and Brindley Place Bandstand). ‘The Voices of Our Lady’s and St Clare’s’ will also take part in a choral workshop led by representatives from the National Youth Choir of Great Britain and there will be pop-up performances and a variety of hands-on sessions for all abilities. What a fabulous achievement from our choral partnership and an exciting opportunity for all the children to showcase their talents, meet other musicians and gain valuable feedback. Watch this space!
