Tomorrow (Friday 25 November), we are hosting a special Careers Fair for years 8-11 at Our Lady’s. Each year group will attend the event on a rota basis and students from Meade Hill have also been invited to attend.
Local colleges and employers will be joining us to help raise awareness among our students of the importance of choosing the right academic or work-based destination once they leave us. We are confident that the Careers Fair will raise aspirations and increase the students’ appreciation that good grades achieved at school will open up a greater selection of careers and post-sixteen routes. KS3 students will be provided with a careers trail to follow to help focus the activity and ensure that they visit each potential employer/educator’s stall.
Year 11 will also be taking part in mock interviews conducted by a range of employers including PWC, one of our partner companies. They have been prepared for these mock interviews with an interview seminar held in school last week by Quality Teachers which helped the students identify what makes a good or bad interview. These ‘interviews’ will provide the chance for our Year 11s to discuss their aspirations and the steps they need to take to achieve their post-16 goals. They will also have the opportunity to discuss their CV and Progress file and will receive written feedback on their performance.
Please help to support your child by encouraging them to arrive to school on time and ensuring they are well-presented in smart interview clothing. Together we can guide them on to a bright future!
Students will get the chance to meet with the following companies:
