Dear Parents / Carers,
Following on from previous communication we want to ensure we are keeping parents updated as to the steps we are taking as a school.
Full guidance can be found at:
We continue to follow guidance and are reminding pupils and staff about good hygiene and raising awareness of Coronavirus across school. We are in regular contact with Manchester City Council and the Diocese.
As the current situation is continually changing we are trying to plan as effectively as possible for various scenarios and our priority as always will be the safety of pupils and staff. We are also looking at systems to ensure that in the event of a school closure we can ensure pupils have access to high quality resources to support their learning.
There are specific factors affecting various year groups:
This is a particularly important time for year 11 and we will endeavour to keep disruption to a minimum. Ensuring that year 11 pupils have access to learning resources, revision materials and access to teacher support in the event of a closure will be a priority.
The practical and speaking exams will continue as planned over the next few weeks. Any changes will be dealt with as they arise and you will be kept informed. The formal exams are still a number of weeks away and with an ever changing picture it is difficult to predict how the situation will develop. Ofqual, the regulatory body for qualifications, have issued a statement to advise that they are reviewing circumstances and that being fair to pupils will be their priority. The full statement can be found here https://www.gov.uk/government/news/updated-statement-on-coronavirus. We will continue to keep you updated with any developments in relation to the year 11 exams.
Work experience is scheduled to take place for 2 weeks from 23 March 2020. At the moment this has not been changed but it is expected that a decision will be confirmed early next week and pupils and parents will be informed.
The decision has been made to postpone the Year 9 Parents Evening scheduled for Thursday 19 March and a new date in the Summer Term will be arranged.
Information has been communicated separately to those pupils who are due to attend the Paris trip in April 2020.
We fully understand the concerns that you may have but want to assure you that safety of pupils and staff is of paramount importance.
If you have specific concerns please contact Mrs Tracey Torr, School Business Manager who will assist you.
Mr Lee Ormsby
