Remote Learning at OLHS
This information is intended to provide support, clarity and transparency to pupils and parents or carers about what to expect from remote education where national or local restrictions require entire cohorts (or bubbles) to remain at home.
If in the event of school closure, immediate remote education will be put in place via the Google Classroom Platform. All students have their own account and have access to all areas of G-Suite and use this regularly in school and for homework currently. This provision allows students to use cloud storage through Google Drive and cloud software such as Google Slides, Docs and Sheets. This requires no installation or cost to families. All of the G-Suite applications are available through a web browser or downloaded apps. Your child will then be able to converse with their teachers via Google Classroom and be able to partake in their remote learning offer which including a variety of different delivery strategies, assessment and feedback procedures. If pupils are lacking the ICT hardware at home, we will endeavor to support with this immediately. Physical copies of classwork or resources can be both sent home and submitted by students if this is preferred by the student or family.
Teachers will use a variety of teaching styles combined with innovative ICT solutions to ensure a combination or live lessons, recorded lessons are mixed with a variety of assessment and feedback methods to ensure our students still receive an enriched curriculum offer.
