Year 6 to Year 7 Transition

A Successful Start for Year 7!

Our new year 7 students have settled in to life at Our Lady's so well, especially after such a difficult few months. The head of year 7, Miss Watkins, said, “we’re really impressed with how the year 7s have settled in. Already they are enjoying all the new subjects that high school has to offer and many have volunteered to be transition leaders and chaplains. Keep up the good work year 7!”

Our newly appointed student transition team will be ambassadors for transition in school and they are keen to show prospective students what life at Our Lady's is like and that this is the right school for them! They will be blogging, interviewing staff and students and making videos - keep an eye on our website and social media for more updates!

The transition team members are: Joy, Rim, Scola, Vinny, Sarah, Alex, Gracie, Favour and Soruzondu. You can hear from some of them below, telling us all about their first day at school.

Year 6 - 7 Transition

It is an absolute pleasure to welcome your child to Our Lady’s RC High School in September. We are extremely delighted that your child will be joining our school for the next chapter in their school life. Rest assured, they are going to have an amazing and successful time at Our Lady’s.

Transition During Lockdown

We understand that transition from primary to secondary school can be a very stressful time both for parents and students. We now have the added stress of the effects of Covid-19. Currently schools are closed to the majority of students until further notice, but we are presently engaging in school with year 10 students. However, the transition team are still working to ensure that this year's Year 6 cohort have a smooth transition.

We usually offer a range of open evenings, meet and greet, and tours in the summer term for parents and students to attend. We are keeping a close eye on the ever-changing government guidelines and we will keep you up to date via the school website and via email (we have your email address – but if they do change please let us know). Transition for students into Our Lady’s is always incredibly successful but of course this year, due to Covid-19, our transition plans have changed.

Rest assured though we have lots planned for parents and carers to ensure this year’s transition to Our Lady’s is as successful as any other.

Miss Tkaczuk is contacting all parents and schools to ensure we have all the relevant information for a smooth start.

Our dedicated transition team here are dedicated to ensuring both pupils and parents have direct contact to us. If you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate in contacting us here in school: email: transition@olsc.manchester.sch.uk or speak directly to Miss Tkaczuk on 0161 507 9640.
