English
At Key Stage 3, students explore a diverse range of texts from the English literary canon while honing essential skills in letter writing, article analysis, and speech crafting. This foundational stage fosters a love for literature and enhances communication and analytical abilities, ensuring students are well-prepared for future studies.
Moving into Key Stage 4, students focus on preparing for the AQA English Language and Literature exams. At the end of KS4 students will have gained two GCSEs in English.
Our dedicated staff confidently use technology to create dynamic and engaging lessons that captivate students' interest and enhance their learning experiences. Beyond the classroom, students are encouraged to engage in a variety of extracurricular activities, including the Bookworms Club, theatre trips, and university workshops, providing further enrichment to their studies.
The study of English assists students in progressing in many careers including:
Journalism, Law, PR, Advertising, Film and TV, Politics or Academia.
English work can be supported via BBC Bitesize and Mr Bruff on YouTube.
