History is a highly popular subject at Our Lady’s. History is an academic subject which develops research and analytical skills. A history qualification gives students a firm grounding for pursing further education in A-Levels and at university. We are a caring department who offer a diverse and stimulating curriculum. We encourage a love of the subject at all key stages.
Students at Our Lady’s study history in years 7 and 8 and enjoy a range of topics such as the Norman Conquest, the First World War and the Industrial Revolution.
At GCSE, students follow the EDUQAS GCSE specification. They will enjoy a range of schemes of work across the course. They will learn about the Elizabethan Age, the USA 1910-1929, Germany 1919-1991 and Leisure and Entertainment in Britain from c500 to the present day. As part of the course they will also visit a place of historical significance, currently Wembley stadium.
