History
History is a highly popular subject at Our Lady’s. History is an academic subject which develops research and analytical skills. A history qualification gives students a firm grounding for pursing further education in A-Levels and at university. We are a caring department who offer a diverse and stimulating curriculum. We encourage a love of the subject at all key stages.
At Our Lady's we have a three year History curriculum which develops the pupil's chronological knowledge from pre1066 until the modern world. We cover interesting topics such as 1066 and the Year of Change, Colonalisation and the two World Wars.
We currently teach GCSE AQA History and the papers we cover are Elizabethan England, Health and the People, Interwar years: 1918–1939 and Germany, 1890–1945: Democracy and Dictatorship. As part of the History curriculum, they will visit a place of Historic significance, currently it is Hardwick Hall.
Miss Warwick is Head of History.
