Science
At Key Stage 3, our students develop their understanding of science. in a series of different topics for all three areas of science including Biology, chemistry and Physics. During year 7 the fundamentals concepts are learned , then during year 8 and year 9 these fundamentals are revisited and more detail understanding of each concept is provided to allow for a rounded understanding of each area .
At Key Stage 4, students study AQA GCSE combined science, in which Biology, Chemistry and Physics are taught together to gain two GCSEs or opted for Separate Science where all three areas are studied separately to gain three GCSEs. Key stage 4 allows for all the foundation during key stage three to be advanced to a higher understanding and application of knowledge with each area.
Staff seek to help pupil knowledge of science through high quality teaching and to help pupils make decisions throughout their life regarding scientific issues that may affect them, society and the world as a whole. Science allows pupils to consider the past and the future advances in science.
