Business Studies
GCSE Business at key stage 4, offers students an insight into the world of commerce, entrepreneurship, and the economic forces shaping our daily lives. The curriculum is designed to give pupils an understanding how businesses operate, make decisions, and impact society. Pupils will develop their knowledge and skills across the two themes:
Theme 1: Investigating small business and
Theme 2: Building a business
Both Themes address the four key areas of businesses: Marketing, Finance, Operations and Human Resources.
The subject involves the use of data and the ability to analyse this alongside case studies to make justified decisions within specific contexts and a business’s requirements. This supports pupils to develop their critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, which are invaluable not just in academic routes, but also in real-world scenarios. Whether pupils are looking to pursue a career in business, develop entrepreneurial aspirations, or simply understand the principles behind every day economic activities, this subject is a stepping stone to various routes of further study and careers.
