Break It Down with Mrs Prince!
If you are thinking of a career in the arts, particularly music, then this may be of some use to you! A series of informative videos will be released over the coming term detailing how to break down tracks, find harmonies/beats/compose melodies and then put it all together in your own mini-studio with a chance to share your results at the end.
1. J4T which is a basic 4-track recording studio and mixer.
You might also like to have a look at “BandLab” which is similar to both of the above but with the added option of collaborating with other users and accessing a variety of great riffs/beats/backing tracks etc.
This is your chance to PLAY!
Year 7 Creative Confidence Online Workshops
An exciting, fun learning activity will soon be available to all year 7….Go live from your front room and connect to this amazing FREE online poetry workshop experience with Kitty Short, a fabulous, engaging drama and creative confidence specialist.
Throughout the Creative Confidence educational workshops, students will develop the skills to express their emotions through poetry, focusing on turning any anxieties they may have, whether at school or at home, into something positive and productive. The series of workshops will allow the students to develop their poetry skills looking at alliteration, similes, free verse, imagery, limericks whilst giving them confidence to devise their own poetry building on their creative writing and extending their vocabulary.
Parents can support and take part from home as well. Each session will be approximately 40 minutes long. This will all be done remotely via the Zoom app. You will need access to either a laptop, tablet or phone, download the app, ‘Zoom Cloud Meetings’, then open it up and follow the instructions to sign up. You will need your email address and will be instructed to set a password. Press on gallery mode. The students will then go to a waiting room where Mrs Newey and Miss Short will invite them in one by one, a little bit like a classroom. This will allow Miss Short to mute, unmute and spotlight the children whilst giving virtual praise with golden thumbs up and hand claps.
Please contact Mrs Newey before 3pm on 3/4/2020 if you are interested and she will share the link and details with you v.newey@olsc.manchester.sch.uk or direct on 0161 507 9666 or contact Miss Short during the Easter holidays as school will be closed on 07739370690.

Mr Mottershead's Riddles and Challenges!
DON’T CHEAT by using the internet, get your family involved and see if you can work out the answers.
What is greater than God,
more evil than the devil,
the poor have it,
the rich need it,
and if you eat it, you'll die?
Who makes it, has no need of it.
Who buys it, has no use for it.
Who uses it can neither see nor feel it.
What is it?
What can travel around the world while staying in a corner?
During which month do people sleep the least?
What is made of water but if you put it into water it will die?
I’m tall when I'm young and I'm short when I'm old. What am I?
What has hands but can not clap?
You can drop me from the tallest building and I'll be fine, but if you drop me in water I die. What am I?
What has a head and a tail, but no body?
What has an eye but can not see?
What gets wetter and wetter the more it dries?
Paul's height is six feet, he's an assistant at a butcher's shop, and wears size 9 shoes. What does he weigh?
Mr Mottershead can do 1 million kick ups and Mr Burke can do 3 so here is a challenge for you all. Watch the video below and see how many kick ups you can do with a toilet roll, video yourself and the boy and girl with the most kick ups will receive an amazing prize when we return to school!
Good luck
