Personal Development
Personal Development and Well-being
At Our Lady's we nurture every pupil as a whole person, a unity of body and soul, made in God's image. Our personal development programme is designed around our own Catholic community, so that all pupils leave us confident, kind, healthy and ready for life in modern Britain.
In November 2025, Ofsted judged our Personal Development and Well-being to be Strong. Inspectors found that pupils are very well prepared for life beyond school.
What our programme includes:
- PSHCE, RSE and citizenship, taught in a dedicated timetabled lesson from Year 7 to Year 11, with regular checks on what pupils have learned.
- Enrichment for everyone, including a residential for every Year 7 pupil, clubs, trips, outdoor learning and the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. We work to remove cost and other barriers so that every pupil can take part.
- Pupil leadership, through the student council, prefects, chaplains and ambassadors, giving pupils a real say in how the school runs.
- Celebrating diversity, through our language and culture days and events across the year, rooted in respect for every person.
- Well-being and pastoral care, with staff who know pupils well and step in early when someone needs extra help.
- Careers and aspiration, with employer encounters, independent guidance and former pupils returning to share their journeys.
