Year 11
Head of Year: Mr Brandreth
Vision for Year 11
Ultimately the students are here to achieve their best. We all have different targets but with the right attitude and endeavour, we should all maximise our potentials. There is nothing worse than a student who doesn’t apply themselves and achieves below their ability.
I envision a scenario where all students engaged with school in every way. They attend lessons, complete their homework, attend EP sessions, completes revision. This is the key to success,
Top 3 priorities:
GCSE results. This is the most important this that our year group will be focusing on. Mock exams in December will give us an indication of the progress of students and then we start the exams in May. This is why we are here. This is the end of our journeys at OLHS. Make it count.
College preparation. Students need to have a clear direction that they intend to follow next year. Using time in form, CVs and college applications must be completed. Students will engage with colleges through visitations or roadshows. The best students will take control of their own futures-if we fail to prepare, we must be prepared to fail. Seek out what courses are right for you, enquire, attend the college days. This will only be beneficial for your own futures.
Behaviour and Respect. Manners are free. We must conduct ourselves as if we were sat next to our parents in class. We should ask ourselves what is the legacy that each of us is leaving behind. We should consider what relationships we have established with our teachers and peers. Do we display role model behaviour to the younger students. This is at the core of our values at OLHS. Be the best version of yourself at all times.
