Music
Music
Homework in music is designed to support the practical elements that take place during lesson time. It will primarily take the form of research or appraisal.
KS3 - Years 7-9
Homework will be set twice per half term and supporting materials will be provided such as links to websites, Google forms, etc clearly attached.
Where listening homework is set, the YouTube link will be provided along with the google form so there is parity for all pupils as often performances and interpretations can vary amongst musicians.
Where research homework is set, typically there will be a list of criteria to hit, for example:
- Date of birth/death of artist
- Location of artist or musical genre where it originated where appropriate
- Why the artist/genre is historically/culturally significant
- Examples of songs/pieces
- Pictures
KS4 - Years 10 and 11
Homework at KS4 is set once per week and is an integral part of lesson and revision planning. It is designed to both supplement and further develop knowledge of the appraisal exam outside of curriculum time. It comes in the form of two main activities, however these can vary due to emerging pupil need:
- Revision exercises e.g. mind maps, DR T SMITH maps, set work analysis, Google form quizzes
- Mock exam questions and/or papers
- Practice of their chosen instrumental study in preparation for Component 1: performance
